GUITA HOURANI
 

Dr.  Hourani has been working as a migration, refugees, citizenship, naturalization, and development specialist with local and international entities for more than 20 years.

She is currently a professor at the Department of Government and International Relations at Notre Dame University-Louaize (NDU) in Lebanon, and has pioneered a course on the role of women in war, peace and conflict resolution and lectured on it in various universities and institutions.

Dr. Hourani a Country Expert (Lebanon) for several organizations including the Fahamu Refugee Programme  (Oxford England), the International Labor Organization (ILO) MAGNET Program, the European Union Democracy Observatory on Citizenship (EUDO) -  Italy, the Consortium for Applied Research on International Migration (CARIM) – Italy. She is also and an Editorial Board Member Mashreq & Mahjar Journal of Middle Eastern Migration Studies, USA. She has published refereed articles and chapters, books, and reports on various topics including but not limited to migration, refugees, socioeconomic mobility, political participation, human insecurity, integration policies, youth and employment, and access to information.

Dr. Hourani is a US State Department Alumni through her participation in the Civic Education and Leadership Fellowship program (CELF). Dr. Hourani was an International Development Consultant at the World Bank in Washington,
