CENTRAL RESEARCH HOUSE COMPLETES PHASE ONE OF THE WOMEN IN ARMED CONFLICTS: POSITIVE ROLE AND PROTECTION MECHANISMS PROJECT
 

CENTRAL RESEARCH HOUSE completed on July 16th 2016 the first part of the project Women in Armed Conflicts: Positive Role and Protection Mechanisms through organizing a third and last workshop with the participation of 17 women active in political parties, media and civil society. The first 2 workshops were held on April 16th, and May 21st2016.

This project is implemented in cooperation with the Konrad Adenauer and aims at enabling women to develop their capacities in promoting principles of international protection during armed conflicts, within their communities and their professional circles, as well as, to act as agents of behavioral change. Topics presented and discussed during these three workshops covered the psychological impact of negative and positive involvement of women in armed conflicts; women, peace and security: UN Security Council Resolutions; and international protection mechanisms during armed conflicts.

A Total of 36 participants from 5 parties, 7 media outlets and 13 non-governmental organization attended these sessions.

CENTRAL RESEARCH HOUSE will launch in the coming weeks the second phase of this project which consists of holding meetings with the leadership of political parties that participated in the first phase, to discuss with them practical steps aimed at enabling women activists from promoting IHL within their respective parties. Meetings will be also held with influential women activists seeking their support for the project through their outreach to their professional communities.
